DUTIES OF USHERS (1/26/01)1. There will be two ushers for each service who will be at the church at least 20 minutes before the service begins. 2. An usher will place a glass of water in the pulpit for the pastor at each service. 3. An usher will light the candles at all regular services with the exception of advent or special occasions. 4. Ushers will seat parishioners on either side of the aisle and hand them a program. 5. Ushers will take a head count at each service by filling in a card with the count, date and service time and give it to the pastor at the end of the service. 6. Ushers will collect the offerings. 7. Ushers will remove any papers, programs, etc, from the pews after each service and discard them. 8. If for some reason an usher cannot be at a service, he\she will be responsible for finding a replacement from the usher’s list. The usher’s list is a list of men and women who can be called upon to serve if and when the regularly scheduled usher cannot serve. 9. A list of all ushers names, including their phones numbers, will be made available to all who usher. 10. Assist all latecomers. |
