World Gospel Mission Eileen McGuire is a native of Indiana. She graduated from Asbury College (Kentucky) with a B.A. in social studies education and later earned a master's degree in both education and administration from Indiana State University. To assist her on the mission field, Eileen has also taken courses in Arizona history at Phoenix College (Arizona) and Bible courses at Asbury Theological Seminary (Kentucky). Eileen has served with World Gospel Mission on the American Indian Field since 1960. After a period of deputation ministries, she will return to her work with Native Americans. Her primary responsibilities will be directing the children's camps held at Southwest Indian Ministries Center and building and maintaining records of addresses of Native American pastors and alumni of the former Southwest Indian School. She will also be involved in the Church Ministries Department of the field headquarters and will continue establishing contacts with Native American churches. The first WGM missionaries arrived on the American Indian Field in 1952 when the ministry consisted of Southwest Indian School, a boarding school for Native American children. Although SIS closed as a boarding school in 1998, the new Southwest Indian Ministries Center continues to provide educational and spiritual ministries to Native American children, youth, and college and career young people. WGM's ministries on the American Indian Field also include church planting, evangelism, discipleship, leadership training, family counseling, and literacy work among the Navajo people. World Gospel Mission, headquartered in Marion, Indiana, is an interdenominational missionary organization with approximately 325 missionaries and support staff serving on five continents.
