Non Toxic Youth Alternatives, Inc. "Providing positive alternatives in a safe, supervised and secure environment” is the priority of this important local ministry. This center is a place where teens ages 13-19 can hang out in an atmosphere, which is safe, dynamic, and exciting. This organization is a multi-denominational Christian organization working together to minister through love, friendship, and acceptance. Tom McShane is the new director, as Dave Flood has resigned. The facility is 5,000 square feet of recreational floor space. Inside this expansive facility the activities offered include darts, pool, foosball, air hockey, video games, a 9 hole mini golf course, and live entertainment. There is even a restaurant/ dining area indoors that the teens may enjoy. Each month there are also outdoor activities that take place such as rock climbing, canoeing, paintballing, camping, wild caving, swimming, and mountain biking. Besides the awesome activities provided for our youth, there are a couple great programs offered by the teen center. Project Teen is a program that matches teens together with adults to rebuild, repair, and restore donated motorcycles and also work on cars and trucks. They even hold their own car and truck show. The other program, T.E.A.M., stands for Teen Ethics And Morality. This program is a part of the educational side for the youth center. There are speakers that relate through personal experience and educated responses on topics such as drug and alcohol abuse, date rape, dating, spirituality, and other important issues that face teens today. They also publish a monthly magazine called TNT News Magazine. It features all the activities of the club and past action and is also updated with news articles and events happening monthly at Non Toxic. Volunteers and donor support run Non-Toxic. All volunteers make a commitment to be available for the teen at the club for one year. Several of the volunteers have been there for multiple years. The club is supported financially by the donations and support of many local area business, churches, foundations or organizations, and private citizens. Much of the equipment in this facility has been donated, even some of the equipment used for the outdoor adventures. Without the help of volunteers or donor support, this club would not be possible.
